GIS conducted a clay modelling workshop for Kindergarten today where an expert was invited to help children discover their creative side. It required children to exercise their fine motor skills while maintaining hand eye coordination. All in all, it was an hour of fun and imagination for our munchkins!
Once again, the Gillconians have proved that they aim to reach higher in every field. For our young Gillconians, sky is the limit.
The students of Classes I to X were felicitated for achieving positions in various Inter House Competitions held during the quarter. The certificates for Inter House Social Science Quiz, Music and Dance Competitions were awarded to the winners by our Principal, Ms.Ruchi Sharma.
Additionally, our students brought laurels to the school by securing the National Merit positions at the Punjab State Level UCMAS ABACUS Competition. Aryan Mittal and Avleen Kaur of Class 3 scored runner up positions.
Lord Krishna’s birthday was celebrated as Janmashtami by GIS Kindergarten. The school premises was decorated with flowers. Little Gillconians came dressed up as Lord Krishna and Radha and gave wonderful performances.

North India’s School Merit Awards felicitation ceremony was held on August 31st, 2023 at Crowne Plaza- Gurgaon.
With the spirit of Raksha Bandhan in our hearts our school decided a visit to max hospital to greet patients and increase their recovery rate by motivating them.
We first met with Dr. Sachin Gupta (director of medical oncology). He briefed us on the activities we must do. Then we were separated into two groups, one of which was led by DR. Manu Sharma (Senior Consultant Paediatric & Neonatology). Ms Shefali supervised the second group. First, we presented Raksha Bandhan cards to cancer patients and took photographs with them. Then we met some adorable small tots and wished them a happy Raksha Bandhan and capturing the moments in camera. We also met Dr. Sourabh Kapoor (Consultant Paediatrics & Neonatology) and wished him by giving Raksha Bandhan cards. We also met and handed out cards to the security department. I must say this was a great initiative by the school to visit max hospital and increase their will to recover and to eliminate their loneliness.

GIS hosted the Zonal Basketball and Table Tennis Tournament 2023 announced by the School Principal, Ms.Ruchi Sharma. More than 200 students from 07 different schools participated and showcased their talent. Gillconians marked their tremendous achievement by securing FIRST position Under - 17 Girls Category and SECOND position Under 14 Girls Category, in the history of the school. Hosting and providing a platform to these talented students at a zonal level, is what makes Gillco International School proud of. The school Principal welcomed participants with a warm heart and wished Good Luck for the upcoming matches.
A Felicitation ceremony 'Guru Bandhan Chatar Abhinandan' was organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad on 22 August 2023.
The ceremony was to felicitate one best teacher, best student, topper of class X & XII.
Parneet kaur Dillon of class XI was awarded the best student award, B. Adi Sakthi and Abhijeet were felicitated for getting the highest marks in Class X and XII respectively in the CBSE board examination.
Ms. Shabana Yasmin was felicitated as the best teacher.
Gillco International School, Mohali organised an Inter-House Dance and Music Competition for grades 1-10 at school premises. The event showcased the incredible talent and creativity of our students from the four houses: Orion, Polaris, Thalia, and Urania.
The competition kicked off with a burst of energy as Orion House took the stage with their mesmerizing dance routine and exceptional musical skills.
Polaris House followed suit, showcasing their exceptional musical skills with a breathtaking performance that made everyone tapping their feet.
Thalia House then took the spotlight with a stunning dance routine that beautifully conveyed emotions through graceful movements. The audience was captivated by their expressive performance.
Lastly, Urania House wowed everyone with their vibrant and energetic musical ensemble, showcasing a wide range of musical skills and talents.
The judges had an incredibly tough time deciding the winners, as each house brought their A-game and left no stone unturned in their preparations. The dedication, teamwork, and passion displayed by all the participants were truly commendable.
The 77th Independence Day of India was celebrated with immense patriotic zeal and enthusiasm by Gillco International School, Mohali on 15 August 2023 where the students showcased their patriotism and pride for the nation through a series of spectacular dance and music performances.
The celebration commenced with the flag-hoisting ceremony where the unfurling of the National Flag was followed by the National Anthem and the release of a myriad of tricolour balloons into the sky. The students, dressed in the vibrant colours of the nation – green, white and saffron – performed a medley of heart touching patriotic songs complemented by the harmonious tunes of the keyboard. Through their serenade, they declared to be willing to sacrifice everything for their nation and rejoiced in the unity that continued to exist despite their diversity. Most memorable moments were marked by golden words of advice and motivation by worthy Principal, MS. Ruchi Sharma. She addressed the gathering by reiterating the way our brave freedom fighters sacrificed their lives, happiness and families – just so we could enjoy the taste of liberty. She encouraged the students to remain Indian at heart, whichever part of the world they decided to live in. Through a real-life experience, she further said that a single wrongdoing
has the capacity to overshadow every good thing a person has achieved, which is why one must refrain from doing wrong. She also emphasized on helping the helpless and guiding the lost. She concluded by saying that she takes pride in her students and staff, and thanked them for their enthusiastic participation in the event.
Saupin's School Mohali organized A.J.Saupin Chess tournament 2023-24 on 12th August 2023.
Tournament was organized for grade 1-4 Boys and girls, Grade 5-8 Boys and girls.
Four children participated from Gillco international school named Gurvi Kumawat and Ekampreet Singh grade 1-4 and Syum Thakur and Ambika Sophat Grade 5-8.
Among all participants, Gillconian Syum Thakur and Ekampreet Kaur scored third position.

Playing and participating in sports activities teaches lesson of life, such as teamwork, accountability, self-confidence, responsibility and self-discipline. Gillconians always remain eager to participate and host all such ventures. An interschool Table Tennis Tournament was hosted by Gillco International School, Mohali on 6 August 2023, Sunday in the school premises.
Many renowned schools from Tricity took part in this grand tournament namely Manav Mangal Smart School, Saupin’s School, Learning Paths School, Vivek Public School and Knowledge Bus School.
The players from these participating schools showcased amazing and dynamic display in Under 11,14 and 17 Boys/Girls. It was a spectacular show to witness the perfect blend of energy, enthusiasm, perfection, coordination, balance and team spirit.
The events of the day came to an end with The Principal, Ms. Ruchi Sharma declaring the results. She congratulated the winners for their exceptional performance and bringing laurels to themselves and to the school.
Nurturing and caring for our beloved Earth and the natural resources is the need of the hour. The young global citizens of Class I took part in an Inter House Fancy Dress competition to spread the message.

An activity was conducted by the students of class V in which children were able to explain the process of digestion by using CLAY of different colours to show the different organs of their role, importance and function in our body.
This activity not only helped in understanding the structure, shape and size of different organs but also enabled Students familiar with the DIGESTIVE PROCESS and importance of healthy and balanced diet in a creative way.
Reading and storytelling with children promotes brain development and imagination, develops language and emotions, and strengthens relationships. Stories create magic and a sense of wonder at the world. Stories teach us about life, about ourselves and about others. It is the oldest and most effective form of teaching. GIS teachers are always finding out new ways to story tell our young ones.
Conservation is not a burden; it is our responsibility towards Earth and its inhabitants. United in the efforts on this World Nature Conservation Day for a sustainable tomorrow,an Inter-House Social Science Quiz Competition was organized for Classes III to X to celebrate the ‘World Nature Conservation Day’ and to sensitize the students about the importance of our natural resources, wildlife and nature of the Earth and the balance that they create for a sustainable life.
Gillco International school observes World Nature Conservation Day on 28 July every year. To celebrate this day students of different classes made beautiful posters. The main purpose for conducting the activity was to spread awareness regarding the protection of nature and biodiversity for a healthy environment which is required for prospering humankind.
To honour the Heros of the Kargil War, a special assembly was organized by the school council.
Students of the school choir marked the occasion with soulful rendition of a patriotic song and encouraged the students in the spirit of love for Nation.
The education summit organised by the Time2Grow Media in Chandigarh brought together Government Dignitaries, Policy-Makers, Changemakers, Senior Stakeholders from top Schools, Thought Leaders, and other important personalities from the world of education, all under one roof.
These personalities deliberated on Discovering New Education Solutions for 2023 and beyond! Keeping in mind the students of today & tomorrow. They also shared some best practices, gave advice on practical and policy matters to reap the maximum benefits from the existing education system.
All this notwithstanding, the summit hosted a grand exhibition where some of the best Ed-Tech companies showcased their products and services to enhance the learning experiences of students, and improve teaching efficiencies of the teachers.
Ms. Ruchi Sharma, Principal, GIS Mohali was among the panellists and spoke at length on Greater Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education and Assessment Tools.
The Assembly to felicitate the of winners of inter house Art and Hindi Competition, Interschool Competition 'Halcyon 2023, Class II, UCMAS abacus winners and Swatch Vidhyalaya was conducted on 30 May 2023.
➢ The winners of Inter House Art Competition Classes III to VIII were awarded certificates.
➢ The winners of Inter House Hindi Competition Classes I to X were awarded certificates.
➢ The students of Class II who participated in Interschool Competition 'Halcyon 2023 were honoured with certificates and trophy.

201 students from class I to XII of session 2022-23 were honoured with Class toppers and scholar batches along with the certificates.
Students from class III to X were given certificates for upholding the values of Honesty, Compassion and Politeness.
Students who had 100 % attendance throughout the session were also given appreciation certificates.

The office bearers for the Student Council for the year 2023-24 were knighted in the Investiture ceremony on 20 May 2023 which reflected the desire of the student councils’ aspiration to act as a torch bearer and a role model for all Gillconians.
The Science Department of Gillco International School organised an industrial visit to the Verka Milk Plant. As per the given time by the admin authorities of Verka we- 3 faculty members,1 supporting staff and 52 students of Class VIII left for the plant at 10.30 am and reached the plant at 11.00 am. Details of the Visit: The moment students entered the plant, they came across many trucks filled with unprocessed and mixed milk.
Mr. Ravinder and Ms. Rupinder took the students near sampling station and explained to them about the process of collecting samples from different cities and mixing milk for Sample B. T
hey saw large boilers of milk.
Then they entered in packing section of the plant where before entering they were offered with disposable caps. After Wearing caps they went to the milk packing section where they saw people packing milk manually. Also, they came to know that all types of milk have two days shelf life. The temperature there was below 5 degrees Celsius and the air was normal - so that milk doesn’t get spoiled. They also came to know that the MRP is decided on the basis of amount of fat in milk which was quite new information for them. They also saw and understood the process of pasteurization.
The students also visited large storage areas. There were blast cold storages which had less than 4-degree temperature to store milk. After that student visited the fermented dairy section. Where they came to know about the cleaning process of pipes where milk is passed for processing. They came to know that nitric acid and caustic soda are used to clean milk pipes.
After that they went to the curd section. Different variants of curd were prepared in that section and packing was done side by side.
In a nutshell, it was a great experience as students collected a lot of information about dairy and its processing.
It was an interactive and productive educational visit as students have gathered practical knowledge of the process.
An interschool competition "Elysian 2023" was organised by Knowledge Bus Global School, Mohali on 22 July 2023,Saturday. The main purpose of the event was to provide the budding readers, writers and speakers a platform to display their creativity and talent. It comprised various categories like story telling, book character journal, book character diary entry and one minute book talk. Our students took part in the competition and Nandish Sarmai, class 4 A bagged second prize in One minute Book Talk. It was a great learning experience for all the participants as they explored different characters through the stories they read.
The Polaris house presented an assembly on the occasion of Buddha Poornima conveying Buddha’s Message of Eight-Fold Path.
The assembly started with the chanting of ‘Buddham Sharanam Gachami’ to bring the importance of peaceful minds while learning.
The students who brought laurels to the school by participating in Dr. Kalam's Mighty Minds Schloarship Test and 9th Global Art festival held at Goa were felicitated by the Principal.
International Labour Day or May Day is celebrated every year on May 1 in a bid to promote the rights of working class and prevent them from exploitation.
The origins of Labour Day can be traced back to the late 19th century when workers across the globe began demanding better working conditions, fair wages, and shorter working hours. International Labour Day is celebrated in more than 80 countries, including India, Cuba, and China. People in different parts of the world hold marches on this day to promote the rights of working-class people and to protect them from exploitation.
Gillco International School too recognised the hard work and dedication of its employees who work tirelessly to ensure smooth functioning of the school.
The event started with a melodious rendition by our music Department with a song ‘Hum Mazdoor’ Our honourable Chairman Mr. Ranjit Singh Gill, honoured the occasion with his blessings and gave the token of appreciation to all the labour employees of the school.
Every year on April 22, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.
The Students of Classes III to VIII also celebrated earth day by performing various activities in their Classes during the Zero Period.
The students wrote messages to mother earth, made posters, wrote slogans and made book marks.
A session on Environmental Concerns and career opportunities in environmental sciences was conducted by Mr. Rajeev Kumar-Chairperson, Department of Environment Studies (PU), for the students of Classes XI and XII .
The students were equipped with many career options to choose from in the field of environmental sciences, offered by the Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Mr Rajeev also sensitized the students for the use of technology in the sustainable way to keep our environment clean and safe for future generations.
The session was organised by the science department under the able efforts of Ms. Preetika Salghotra.

And we are proud to announce that Arzoo of Class XII has been awarded the verbal mention in the event.

MUN teaches participants skills like research, public speaking, debating, and writing, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership.
Gillconians are always in line of learning and exploring new concepts. Recently OP Jindal university organized two days MUN from 15April to 16 April 2023 at Vivanta, New Delhi. Ten students from class 12 participated in the same. They were delegates of different countries. Different agendas were given to delegates of different committees. Students did their research and presented the same confidently.
More than 22 schools participated in the same. Out of these Aarzoo won Verbal Mention certification. Other participants from school were Vanshika, Anirudh, Somya, Shiv, Jeena, Sukhpreet, Harkanwal, Parneet, Priyangel. It was a great experience and exposure for the students as well as faculty.
A Mini Marathon of 3 Km for U-14 and 4 Km for U-17 was organised by Shishu Niketan School, Sec-66 Mohali on 13th April 2023. Eleven schools of the Tricity participated in this event with more than 400 participants and 40 coaches.
Our school has sent 36 participants both girls and boys, for the event under the guidance of Mr. Rakesh. The students brought laurels to the school by bagging the overall Runner up trophy by winning one gold, two bronze and one fifth position.

Gillco International school has always played an important role in making learning easy through practical exposure and experience. With the same ides various activities and expert talks are organized to make students understand the concept in depth which helps them to broaden their horizons.
Taking a step ahead, an interesting and learning online session on the famous ‘Mumbai Dabbawala’, with the co-partner of the company Mr. Raghunath was organized for the students of Class XI & XII (Economics and Commerce) along with the student’s presentation stating the idea behind the working.
Dr. Prineeta Malhotra was the lead mentor of the entire session.
The session started at 10:30 am with small presentation by students.
Mr. Raghunath joined the students through online mode at 11:00 am and gave a detailed concept on the working of his company with zero error.
A feedback form was circulated thereafter to the students to write their experience.
St. Vivekanand Millennium School, Pinjore (Haryana) is conducted an online “Vivekanand Astronomy Quiz” with support of Holy Blood Education Services. The objective of this quiz was to ignite the passion for astronomy among young aspirants and to encourage them to consider it as their career. The quiz was conducted for the students of classes 7th to 9th.
The VAQ 2023 was conducted through an online link on 4th May 2023 (Thursday) .
